Purple toy lama licks man’s nipple in ad for ‘surprisingly fruity’ Rio Mints
Ogilvy & Mather has launched an off-the-wall campaign targeting Hong Kong youth in which a man’s nipple is licked by a purple toy lama to demonstrate the sensation of eating ‘Surprisingly Fruity’ Rio Burgundy Grape Mints.
In the ad, the young man is so taken by the unexpected burst of flavour that he fails to notice what his toy lama is doing to him.
The campaign is billed by the agency as “a breath of fresh air for Hong Kong’s conservative advertising scene”.
The campaign will run on television locally and also online, on YouTube.
The campaign features outtakes from the ad, which run on Rio Mints Facebook page.
Reed Collins, chief creative officer at Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong, commented: “We wanted to try and do something that not only amuses and entertains viewers, but to get people talking about Rio Mints over it’s competitors.”
“The Surprisingly Fruity campaign has been a hell of a lot of fun to make and we’re already beginning to see success online. There is plenty of room for and a real hunger by brands and consumers for all styles of marketing in Hong Kong,” he said.
Nothing says Reed Collins like a nipple licking purple llama
