Singapore politician and IPG Mediabrands executive Nicole Seah to move to Thailand

Nicole SeahNicole Seah, a popular opposition politician in Singapore and an account manager at IPG Mediabrands, is moving to Thailand.

Seah, currently a senior account manager at the media agency, will be taking a role as digital manager at IPG Mediabrands in Bangkok.

She will report to agency chairman Wannee Ruttanaphon, who is also chair of the Media Agency Association of Thailand.

Seah, who is the daughter of IPG Mediabrands Singapore boss Pat Lim, made headlines in November when she threatened to sue government-friendly publisher Singapore Press Holdings for defamation over two articles about her personal life.

She has worked at IPG Mediabrands as a senior account manager in the agency’s digital department, and in her earlier career worked at Starcom, PR agency Golin Harris and the tech start up PurpleStream Convergence.

Ruttanaphon told Mumbrella: “We are aggressively building our digital team. As locals job hop a lot, we cannot build a solid team when people stay only for the short term. Therefore, we now hire hybrid planners and expats who can stay longer and allow us to build a good team that will endure.”

Seah said: “I was drawn to the role as it offers great regional experience and the opportunity to experience firsthand how a large-volume market functions. I will continue my community projects by going back to Singapore intermittently. I’ve also worked out a system with my volunteers that will allow us to keep discussions and updates ongoing in real-time even though I’m based in Thailand.”

Still only 28 years old, Seah shot to stardom in 2011 during the last elections with a series of speeches for the National Solidarity Party that went viral on YouTube.
