Panasonic launches ads for VIERA TV made by YouTube competition winners

Panasonic is launching an online ad campaign in Japan today that uses footage from winners of a competition for YouTube film-makers.

The campaign used the crowdsourcing platform eYeka to invite film-makers to create videos for the ultra-high definition VIERA 4KTV. The winners were chosen from a panel of judges in Japan from Panasonic and WIRED magazine, and given cash prizes.

The overall winner can be seen here.

Here is the second winner, called ‘A tiger in the living room’

The third winner, ‘BMX’.

The competition drew 34 entry videos in five weeks, from France, Japan, the USA, Russia, India, China and the UK.

Yuko Ttetsu, web communication manager, consumer marketing division at Panasonic Corporation said: “Collaborating with young talented video creators was extremely rewarding. What excited us most was their reaction to watching their creations on a big screen like the VIERA as opposed to the usual smartphone or laptop screens. We realised that TV can connect with younger generations from this perspective and we plan to deepen our engagement with young creators across the world.”
