Yahoo! has parted ways with APAC head of business marketing Vaasu Gavarasana.

Gavarasana was in the role for just 10 months, having moved over from Yahoo’s Digital Marketing Solutions Group in October last year.

He joined the internet firm in 2011, relocating from India to Singapore to run the Procter & Gamble business.

Gavarasana was recently behind a one-man campaign to persuade the industry to reduce the number of events it holds and to avoid date clashes.

In May, he sent an email to publishers and events companies such as Haymarket, Lighthouse, the Interactive Advertising Bureau and the 4As, as well as the key media agency bosses, complaining that the industry had “reached that point of diminishing effectiveness and overlapping dates.”

He wrote: “We are wise enough to know that this counterproductive and will eventually hurt everyone.” He has proposed a communally shared Google document for events organisers to share dates and avoid clashes.

Gavarasana told Mumbrella that his departure from Yahoo was not related to this campaign, and vowed to continue the initiative.
