Prominent PR executive Michelle Tham has resurfaced with a new job as managing director of Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ Singapore office.

Tham left a regional MD role at Interpublic Group consumer PR agency DeVries Global after two years in May this year, Mumbrella reported.

Tham replaces Jamie Morse, who the agency says has “stepped down to pursue other opportunities.”

Tham set up Devries’s Asia operation based out of Singapore two years ago, after 11 years working for IPG sister PR agency Weber Shandwick, latterly as senior VP.

She will report to H+K Asia president and CEO John Morgan.

Tham said in a press release: “Clients are tired of the same agency rhetoric. The baseline today is that we intimately understand the changing landscape of traditional media, we’re digitally savvy, and have the right mix of talent to create breakthrough strategies.  That just gets us in the door.”

“I strive to instill a ‘challenger’ mentality in which we bring agencies to the table in a more meaningful way than ever before.  The fact is that there are no boundaries in the marketing mix today – and it’s our responsibility to keep pushing the limits.  I’m looking forward to working with the talented H+K team in Singapore to make this happen,” she said.

Morgan said: “Experience and success like Michelle has had in creating breakthrough strategies and long-term relationships is exactly the reason our clients look to us. Any agency across Asia would be fortunate to have her – as a leader and as a seasoned advisor – and we are thrilled she has decided to join H+K.”

He added: “Under the leadership of our Asia Pacific Chairman, Viv Lines, we’re making the right investments, at the right time, to strengthen and diversify our client service offerings,” Morgan added.  “Acquiring creative digital shops like Rice5 and bringing on board seasoned pros like Michelle and Elke, is just the beginning.  We’re looking at our business in new ways to ensure we’re well positioned in this new and exciting landscape where old filters and boundaries no longer apply.  More exciting announcements are just around the corner.”
