Google Southeast Asia boss Julian Persaud to join Airbnb
Julian Persaud, the boss of Google Southeast Asia, is moving to a new role running Airbnb across Asia, Mumbrella can reveal.
Persaud moves on from Google after 10 years with the company. He first worked for the search giant in Australia as head of business development then director of online sales. He moved to Singapore and to a role as managing director of the firm’s Southeast Asian operations in 2009.
Airbnb did not comment on the move. Neither did Google, although the company confirmed Persaud’s departure.
Rajan Anandan who currently leads sales and operations for Google India will take an expanded role to become VP of sales and operations, Google India and Southeast Asia, reporting into Karim Temsamani, president APAC.
Persaud’s appointment comes some months after Airbnb hired Ken Hosking from McCann as APAC head of talent.
The online lodging rental service set up an office in Singapore, where Persaud will be based, in late 2012. The company competes with the likes of Roomorama, Travelmob,9flats and iBilik.
Airbnb’s most recent ad campaign was created in Singapore, by ad agency TBWA.
