Unilever re-assigns Riverorchid for Cambodian media duties

Pond's Pure WhiteAfter a long review process, Unilever has decided on an agency to handle its media planning and buying for all brands in Cambodia.

According to sources, each of the three agencies involved in the pitch, which began five months ago, were advised of the result a fortnight ago.

Riverorchid, the incumbent on the business, has been re-appointed, Mumbrella understands, in a pitch field that included Phibious, from which Riverorchid won the Cambodian Coca-cola media account in December last year, and Cream Communications.

The agencies did not comment on the news.

The re-appointment will come as welcome news to the Indochina specialist agency, which parted ways with seven Unilever brands at the end of 2013 in the sub-region, but held on to the Cambodian media business.

Riverorchid took over Unilever’s brands handled by Ogilvy & Mather when the WPP agency closed its Cambodian operation.

In March last year, Cream Communications, a new independent creative agency that launched in 2013, picked up six Unilever assignments, including Lux, Wall’s, Vaseline (Men & Body), Comfort and Closeup.

Unilever is one of Cambodia’s largest advertisers.
