MediaCorp releases Lee Kuan Yew DVDs

MediaCorp has made free-to-air programming about Lee Kuan Yew, the late prime minister of Singapore, available to buy on DVD.

Two programmes – Forging A Nation and In His Own Words – were broadcast on MediaCorp’s free-to-air channels during the period of national mourning after his death on 23 March. Forging A Nation will be on sale for $26.90 from 1 August, and In His Own Words is selling for $27.90 from 7 August. Both series are available through Poh Kim outlets.
The venture is part of Singapore’s SG50 celebrations, MediaCorp says.

The announcement:

Singapore, 31 July 2015 – MediaCorp is making available on DVD, a collection of programmes about Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, in conjunction with the celebration of Singapore’s 50th year of independence. These programmes were broadcast on MediaCorp’s free-to-air channels during the period of national mourning following his death on 23 March 2015. Since then, MediaCorp has received requests from members of the public to offer the programmes on DVD for purchase.

Forging a Nation and In His Own Words are being released in the week before Singapore celebrates its National Day on 9 August.

Forging a Nation is a compilation of 15 clips of about 5 minutes in duration. They illustrate the events that led to Singapore’s independence, the immediate challenges it faced as a fledgling nation and how it overcame the odds to become the nation it is today. It is available for public sale from 1 August 2015 and retails at $26.90.

In His Own Words is a six-part series of excerpts from key speeches made by Mr Lee over the years, covering various themes close to his heart. This is on sale from 7 August 2015 and retails at $27.90.

Both series are packaged in a special four-disc box set edition in four languages – English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil – at Poh Kim outlets. Visit www.pohkim.com.sg for its branch locations. Bulk orders above 100 copies can be made at: merchandise@mediacorp.com.sg.

Earlier in April this year, Time Nor Tide, a three-part documentary commemorating Mr Lee’s life and legacy, was made available to the public.
