Netflix logoNetflix, the US-based movie and TV streaming giant, is looking for marketers to help build its presence in Asia Pacific as it looks to roll out its service early this year, with jobs in the market for an APAC director of partner marketing and a regional social media manager.

Just posted a day ago on LinkedIn, the director of partner marketing position, which involves helping to define the overall Netflix marketing strategy for APAC, has already attracted 712 applicants.

The Singapore-based role will lead marketing relationships with Netflix partners in sectors including consumer electronics, broadband providers/ISP, telcos and financial services. He or she will report to the VP of marketing.

“We seek a marketing professional who enjoys managing and growing relationships with partners and is comfortable owning the full life cycle of partner marketing projects from ideation to execution,” the job ad reads.

“The preferred candidate will develop and implement strategies and promotional ideas using Netflix assets to help our partners reach their business goals while also allowing Netflix [to] reach new consumers.”

A job on LinkedIn for regional social media manager for Netflix, posted seven days ago, has attracted 664 applicants at the time of publishing.

“As a member of our lean and agile team, the successful employee will be as comfortable firing off a humorous tweet as they are writing strategy and producing a major campaign for the brand or an original show,” the ad for the job reads.

The company wants to hire an “adult” for the role. “Every tweet is an official statement from the brand,” according to the ad. “Our winning candidate will have a deep understanding of the business context and will make intelligent decisions that benefit the long term value of the brand.”

The ad stipulates that the candidate must have a keen sense of fun and “loves TV and film more than sharks love blood.” They must be fluent in English and Mandarin or Korean.

The company is also looking for a social media manager for the Korean market, where it is to soon to launch a local service, and a Singapore-based publicity assets manager for the region.

Netflix, which enables people with an internet connection to watch its content whenever and wherever they like on any device, held a pitch to find a social marketing agency last year, with Mirum, We Are Social and The Secret Little Agency among the agencies involved.

The internet TV company already uses a PR agency in Asia, with MSL handling public relations since September last year.
