Blak Labs tasks Singapore arts grads to spot 10 design mistakes in ad to win work placement
Singapore independent ad agency Blak Labs is offering a 12-week work placement for new graduates of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts who can spot 10 design errors in the ad below.
The task has been given to students in their graduation booklets and through digital channels. Industry practitioners should be able identify at least 15 errors, the agency says. Those who think they know all the answers can contact talktous@blaklabs.com.
“With this challenge, we hope to cherry-pick top creative minds with an eye for detail, befitting Blak Labs’ philosophy of offering our clients the highest level of creative care,” commented Koh Hwee Peng, NAFA alumna and Blak Labs co-founder.
““With this challenge, we hope to cherry-pick top creative minds with an eye for detail…”
Ho hum.
This ripoff ad is just another sad example of how the quality of thinking in advertising agencies has slowly evaporated.
When Neil French wrote – “There is a spelling mistake in this advertisement. The first person to spot it will receive $500.” – the thinking behind the ad was to get people to read through every one of the 1,500 words or so he wrote, in the hope of spotting the spelling mistake. Genius. He wove in the argument that his agency created ads that consumers could not resist noticing, reading or engaging with. Very very smart.
This looks like a job for a proofreader.
Reply1. Repeated punctuation ““
2. Neil French wrote “recieve $500” not “receive $500”
