Based in Hong Kong, Stafford will oversee the agency’s 12 regional offices, and comes in after a long search for a replacement for former APAC boss Angeline Ong, who left after just over six months in the post

The regional head role has been performed in the interim by the APAC COO.

Stafford brings to the role 15 years of experience in agency, in both agency and government roles. He was CEO of Burson-Marsteller in China and Hong Kong between 2011 and 2014, working with clients including Hong Kong Disneyland, adidas, Qualcomm, Bank of America and Prudential.

Donna Imperato, CEO of Cohn & Wolfe, to whom Stafford will report, commented: “Asia is a strategic priority for us, as it represents a tremendous opportunity for continued growth for both our clients and our agency. We’ve been highly selective in our search for our new Asia-Pacific president, and I’m confident Matt is the right person to elevate our business in the region.”
