Publicis has brought back Oliver Xu from Grey to lead the agency group in Beijing, and installed Nuno Wu from VML as ECD for the Chinese capital.

Xu will lead the newly formed Publicis Communications agencies, which include Publicis Worldwide, Publicis Vivid, MSL, and Team One. He brings with him 25 years experience with agencies including J Walter Thompson, BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi, where he worked previously for a three-year stint in Beijing.

Wu, who moves on after just over a year with VML, also has a quarter of a decade of advertising experience, with clients including BMW, Mercedes Benz, General Motors, Unilever and Heineken and stints with agencies including Jung von Matt, McCann, Bates and Leo Burnett.

Xu said: “It is great to come back to Publicis Groupe and I am very excited about this new role, which will enable us to bring the best of the Groupe’s capabilities together and do great work for our clients by providing an effective, one-stop communications solution.”

Wu added: “My work covered many industries in both Taiwan and China mainland, particularly when it comes to automotive brands over the past ten years, I look forward to contributing it to more clients. It is a joy for me to join Publicis Groupe and I am excited to help our clients accomplish more excellent things in this new era of advertising.”

Replacing Xu at Grey in Beijing is Keith Ho, who has been promoted to CEO, effective 1 August.
