Jetstar Asia urges travellers to postpone flights and stay at home in Chinese NY campaign

Jetstar Asia is encouraging people to postpone their flights in a campaign designed to help families celebrate Chinese New Year together.

The airline is waiving change fees for those with flights departing January 27 and 28 in a move to persuade travellers to stay at home and fly at a later date.

As part of the AKA Asia-created digital campaign, Jetstar Asia conducted an experiment to see how many people would refuse the offer of free flights after hearing relatives discuss the joy of celebrating the new year with family.

Jetstar regional marketing manager of Southeast Asia, Chantal van Wijnbergen, said: “As an airline, we carry our customers to their dream destinations all year long. However, this is the time we should stay home as family comes first.

“We hope our customers will treasure their reunion at home with their loved ones this coming Lunar New Year, because you can always travel after that.”
