Overseen by recently-appointed chief executive Kasper Aakerlund, the network has named Malcolm Thorp its head of media investment and Kate Wong and Penny Chow as business directors. All three will report directly to Aakerlund.

The appointments are part of a continuing transformation of IPG Mediabrands following Aakerlund’s arrival in July last year.

“We have been building and up-skilling a strong-house of digital intelligence and experience, empowered by our unique cross collaboration methodology which gives us the speed and agility to deliver truly innovative media solutions for our clients,” said Aakerlund.

He added: “These three new hires bring a wealth of high calibre expertise and Greater China experience into the agency; further bolstering our in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities for brand cut-through in this emerging market.”

IPG Mediabrands is the global media holding company of the Interpublic Group and includes UM, Magna, Initiative and BPN.
