IPG Mediabrands appoints OMD Australia’s Naomi Michael to head up marketing in APAC

IPG Mediabrands has appointed Naomi Michael to the newly-created role of head of marketing for Asia Pacific. She will be based at the group’s regional headquarters in Singapore and will report to the regional chief executive Leigh Terry.

Michael was national marketing and communications director for OMD Australia until March last year, where she worked across the agency’s countrywide offices plus those in Singapore and Hong Kong. In the interim period, she has worked as a freelance consultant for multinational brands in Hong Kong.

At IPG, she will be primarily responsible for developing communication plans throughout the APAC region.

Terry said: “The creation of this role is an indication of the strength and footprint we have established, and continue to develop in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Michael added that “IPG has been interesting to watch over the last 18 months. They have a unique brand proposition ‘dynamic by design’, which has been built into the structure of the organisation, and empowers both their people and their agency brands to remain agile, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial in their approach as the network continues to grow.”

In July last year, IPG Mediabrands poached Terry to head up its APAC division from Omnicom Australia where he was CEO.
