J. Walter Thompson Pakistan has won the creative and digital account for national telecommunications company Ufone following a competitive pitch. The account remit covers content creation across traditional and online platforms.
Owned by the United Arab Emirates-based Etisalat Group, Ufone is one of Pakistan’s major mobile telecom providers.
“I am grateful to the Ufone team for believing in our work and passion,” said JWT Pakistan chief executive Imran Afzal. “With a clear vision of building brands and being a true business partner, the team of passionate individuals at JWT Pakistan is ready to take the Ufone brand to new heights.”
Pakistan’s telecommunications sector has grown rapidly in recent years and included the entrance of foreign telcos as the government makes efforts to deregulate the industry. The country had more than 160 million mobile subscribers last year, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
