Zoo Singapore names new MD following Shirley Tay departure

Australian-based independent agency Zoo has appointed Melissa Hill as managing director and partner for the Singapore office.

Hill joins Zoo from Leo Burnett Singapore, where she acted as global brand agency leader for the last six years. She replaces the recently departed MD Shirley Tay, who left the Zoo to join Y&R Singapore as chief executive officer last month.

An Australian who has lived in Asia for more than 12 years, Hill has more than 20 years of industry experience. She said:  “Creativity is the best tool for solving business problems. The current agile, entrepreneurial environment that the executive creative director, Anthony Tham, and the team have created provides the perfect context to make fresh, new things happen.”

Originally founded in Canberra, Australia, in 2002, the agency has offices in Melbourne and Sydney and in Auckland, New Zealand. The Singapore office was officially launched by Tay at the end of 2015.

Zoo founder and CEO Pawl Cubbin said: “Melissa has built an enviable career, both globally and in Singapore. Her boundless energy, humility and passion for thinking laterally and objectively about what’s best for clients will be invaluable for us. We wish outgoing MD Shirley Tay the very best and genuinely thank her for her efforts and results that she delivered with Anthony and the team.”
