When dating meets driving: Grab Singapore teams up with Tinder to help riders ‘make a friend’

Mobile taxi firm Grab has teamed up with dating app Tinder as part of an influencer-led activation taking place on Friday.

The campaign will allow Grab users in Singapore to share a ride with one of the region’s social media influencers between 11am and 4pm, while a camera crew films them to see if there’s a chemistry spark.

In an email sent to Grab customers, the taxi company said that “due to limited number of cars, there is no guarantee that everyone will be able to get a ride”.

The ad also claims that “Tinder personalities” are assigned at random, so users are unable to choose their ride partner. Meanwhile, Grab says it “reserves the right to disqualify any participant or reject participants deemed ineligible for the campaign”.

Those who engage in “conduct that the organiser considers inappropriate or unacceptable” will also be axed from the campaign, the ad continues.

Footage from the rides/dates is expected to be published online after the filming on Friday, although the specific channels have not yet been stated.

Passengers who take part in the campaign can win an all-expenses date with their match two days later.
