Effies Awards Singapore 2017: DDB and BBH claim Golds – and host Hossan Leong sings The Beatles

Attendees of this year’s Effie Awards Singapore were treated to a musical extravaganza at the winners’ ceremony last night.

From a shortlist of 24, the 12 winners included two Gold, six Silver and four Bronze awards. Bartle Bogle Hegarty Singapore and DDB were among the two Gold winners at the ceremony – which was held at the Pan Pacific Singapore before an audience of around 150 people.

NTUC Income was the top brand winning a Gold, while GOVT Singapore also picked up a Silver.

For many though, the highlight of the evening was the musical interlude by Singaporean actor and television host Hossan Leong, who also presented the awards. He treated guests to two songs including his own version of The Beatles’ Let it Be – with the lyrics changed to an Effies theme.

Organiser and Institute of Advertising Singapore president Shufen Goh said:  “Entries from independent agencies have doubled year on year, and now makes up a third of the total. A very clear sign of that Effies Singapore has evolved to be very inclusive and important focus for the industry, regardless of size and budgets.”
