Data company Fifty-Five China hires GroupM’s Baosheng Gao

Global data marketing company Fifty-Five has appointed Baosheng Gao as managing director of its recently opened Shanghai office.

Sheng joins Fifty-Five from GroupM, where he was responsible for building the holding company WPP’s big data platform, Compass, in China.

Before then, he was head of analytics at GroupM media agency MEC China for three years between 2013 and 2016.

Described by Fifty-Five as having a “thorough knowledge of the Chinese ecosystem of agencies and their partners, as well as close ties with Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent”, Sheng has worked with marketers across consumer, automotive and luxury goods across China for 14 years.

He said: “It gives me great pleasure to join a highly-qualified team who are truly passionate about what they do. We share the same vision of data, technology and the opportunities these issues represent in China.”

Headquartered in Paris,  Fifty-Five has offices in London, Hong Kong, New York and most recently Shanghai, which launched in September.

The Shanghai team consists of four people and the company is on the hunt for more data analysts. The team currently works with Huawei, LVMH, the Richemont group and SMZDM.com, the country’s largest shopping recommendation platform.
