Visa promotes mobile payment in Singapore with ‘little wonder’ ad

Visa has launched a heartwarming Facebook ad to promote its mobile payment options in Singapore.

Created by BBDO, the 30-second clip features a young Singaporean child enthusiastically placing a toy mobile phone against household items, including the fridge, her teddy bear and her pet turtle’s tank.

The video then moves to a cupcake shop, where the child’s mother is buying treats for the pair of them – using her mobile Visa card to foot the bill. The child subsequently mimics her mother once more as the tagline ‘Visa is now your little wonder’ appears on the screen.

Singaporean Visa customers have been able to pay for goods using their smartphones since 2014 when the payment company teamed up with Singtel.

However, according to a November report by Ernst & Young and DBS Bank, just four per cent of consumers use mobiles as a payment method in Singapore, while in China the number stands at 40 per cent.

Visa has recently upped its efforts to promote the option across Asia. In May, the company released a short 15-minute film showing a Thai tourist wandering around Tokyo after losing her purse. At the time of publication, the film had been viewed more than six million views on social media.

Visa’s latest ad has so far been viewed more than 500,000 times on Facebook.
