Vizeum’s managing director Duncan Pointer will succeed Barnes as the agency’s CEO for APAC.

Barnes will turn his focus to the further development of the group’s client centric approach, while Pointer will focus on the continued growth of Vizeum in his new role leading the business, DAN said in a statement. The appointments are effective immediately.

Pointer has 15 years’ experience in the media and advertising industry, working in the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Australia and Singapore. He has been with DAN for more than six years – starting at Carat London, before moving to Singapore in 2013 for the role of MD of Vizeum Asia Pacific.

He said: “The business in Asia Pacific has grown exponentially; we’ve built a leadership team of specialist talent to deliver great work for our clients. As a team, we will continue to explore new technology empowered ways to communicate, leverage analytics and the creative application of media to accelerate business growth for our clients.”

Meanwhile, Barnes has been CEO for Vizeum for four years, and is described by DAN as being an “entrepreneur and transformer of businesses” who has a “unique understanding of the communications industry”.

Barnes added: “The speed of disruption by the digital economy is accelerating, and complexity for clients growing. I am looking forward to mobilising our unique operating model and incredible people to help our clients gain competitive advantage in this complex environment.”
