Coke tries to resolve political tensions between India and Pakistan using vending machines

Coca-Cola has attempted to resolve the political tensions between Pakistan and India by installing a series of vending machines in both countries.

Via cameras and 3D touchscreen technology fitted to the front of the machines, people are able to see people next to a machine in the other country and interact with them. If they interact, they are rewarded with a free can of Coke.

The stunt has received a mixed reaction from posters on YouTube, with some pointing to Coke’s controversial recent history in India where the brand was accused of draining water from farms to feed its factories.

“A moment of happiness has the power to bring the world closer together” a caption in a video reads, which was put together by ad agency Leo Burnett.
