Jasmin Sohrabji takes control of Southeast and India for Omnicom Media Group

Sohrabji: now CEO of both India and Southeast Asia

Sohrabji: now runs India and SEA

The Asia Pacific management line-up of Omnicom Media Group is undergoing more change with the creation of two new sub-regional roles – for Southeast Asia and Greater China.

Greater China will be run by Doug Pearce, currently CEO of OMG China, who adds Hong Kong and Taiwan to his remit.

And in a bigger move, Southeast Asia will be led by the CEO of OMG’s Indian operation Jasmin Sohrabji, who now controls both.

The appointment of Sohrabji follows comments made by outgoing OMG Asia-Pacific CEO Barry Cupples on Monday that Southeast Asia is the region in most need of improvement.

He told Mumbrella: “I’ve not done as good a job as I would have liked in making Southeast Asia the jewel in the crown that it deserves to be. To be fair, I’ve been distracted by the growth in China, India and Australia, and in maintaining and growing our businesses there.”

In a statement today, Cupples’ successor Cheuk Chiang said: “Bolstering our regional management capacity with a new sub-regional structure reinforces our commitment to this region. Jasmin [Sohrabji] is an asset to the senior leadership team and I am confident that under her guidance and vision, our presence in South East Asia and India will get stronger.”

There will be no change in Australia and New Zealand, with Leigh Terry continuing to run OMG as CEO in those markets.

Cupples is moving to London in July to take on a new role as CEO, global investment and accountability for OMG. Cheuk Chiang, formerly the CEO of PHD Asia Pacific, has been replaced by Susana Tsui, who is to move over from OgilvyOne.
