Havas social media star Christel Quek exits

Christel QuekOne of Havas Media’s brightest young executives is leaving the agency.

Christel Quek, the 23 year-old global social marketing manager of Havas Media is taking up a new role client-side, Mumbrella understands.

Quek joined Havas at the age of 19 and is regarded as one of Asia’s foremost young social media minds. Besides her role at Havas, she is a columnist for Huffington Post.

In an interview with Mumbrella a fortnight ago, Quek – who tweets under the name @ladyxtel – hinted that she would be leaving.

Asked about how young people could follow in her footsteps, Quek told Mumbrella: “Be authentic. Generate a lot of content. And don’t forget where you came from.”

“It’s very easy to get conceited in this business. It’s easy to think that just because you have 20,000 Twitter followers you have made it. Most important of all is to help people along the way,” she said.

Quek confirmed she was leaving the agency, but would not reveal her next move.
