Japan and Singapore fly the flag for Asia on Cannes innovation shortlist

Cannes Lions logoSingapore and Japan are the only Asia Pacific countries, with the exception of Australia, on the shortlist for Cannes Lions’ newly introduced innovation category.

Japan’s Dentsu managed two finalists out of 25, for a bio sensor tool and a video experience system, while Y&R Singapore secured another, for a mobile app for the blind.

Australia also featured on the list, with a vending machine that live streams content, by Leo Burnett Sydney.

The new award, introduced this year, recognises “the most innovative platforms, apps, tools, programs, hardware, products, and radical software which allow brands and creatives to communicate with their customers in a new way, or which stand alone as significant innovations in their own right,” according to Cannes Lion.
