Sri Lanka’s young marketers triumph in Cannes

An Asian country has triumphed at Cannes in a competition for young marketers.

Sri Lankan marketers Hiruni Shermila Mendis and Lakshita Wayan Wijesinghe from mobile telco firm Etisalat Lanka came out in front of the Dominican Republic and Canada to win gold in the Young Lions Marketers competition.

The duo were deemed best at answering a brief for a charity in a five-minute presentation.

The young marketers contest is in its fourth year at Cannes. The Philippines claimed gold in 2011 and Australia won silver last year.
