Chris Stibbs replaces Andrew Rashbass as The Economist’s CEO
The Economist has a new global chief executive.
Chris Stibbs, currently the paper’s finance director and MD of the Economist Intelligence Unit, will replace long-serving CEO Andrew Rashbass, who is stepping down.
Stibbs’ role also covers Asia Pacific.
Chairman of The Economist Group, Rupert Pennant-Rea, said in a statement: “The Board is delighted to appoint Chris as its next chief executive. He has had wide experience both outside and inside the Group, and has a clear vision for the Group’s development in our rapidly changing markets.”
Stibbs added: “The Economist Group thrives because of its global relevance, independence and the quality of its content delivered however customers want. It will be a privilege to lead this extraordinary company and its world-beating team.”
Stibbs has worked for The Economist Group since 2005, when he joined from Incisive Media, where he was the corporate development director.
He has also been a non-executive director of Motivcom, finance director of the TBP Group and MD of the FT Law and Tax Division.
