Havas Media’s social star Christel Quek joins Samsung

Christel QuekHavas Media’s global social marketing manager Christel Quek is joining Samsung.

The 23 year-old social media star, who joined Havas at the age of 19, is taking on the role as regional social business lead for Southeast Asia, Oceania and Taiwan.

She will report into Damien Cummings, Samsung Asia’s regional marketing director, digital and social media.

Quek was among the only executives in Havas’s Singapore office with a global role, and the agency’s London-based global marketing team is now looking to replace her.

Her departure comes at an eventful time for Havas Media’s Singapore office, which has been hit by a string of client departures in recent months, including Far East Organization, Temasek Holdings and Sentosa Resorts World.

She will continue to contribute to internet newspaper Huffington Post as a social media columnist.

Quek has worked on brands including DBS Bank, KLM Airlines, Intel and Toshiba. Before joining Havas, she was a community manager for Socialeyes Inc, a Silicon Valley start-up.
