Effies launches APAC awards show

Effies logoNew York-based effectiveness awards organiser the Effies is launching a regional awards show for Asia.

Effie Asia Pacific is to launch in partnership with the Confederation of Asian Advertising Agencies Association and Tenasia Group, and will compete with established effectiveness awards, the Festival of Asian Marketing Effectiveness.

The date for the first Effie APAC has yet to be finalised. But the organiser told Mumbrella that it wants to hold it in the early part of 2014 – either towards the end of first quarter or beginning of the second quarter.

The event will be held in Singapore.

The decision to launch the regional Effies comes five years after the festival piloted the APAC Effies with the Institute of Advertising Singapore, which runs the Singapore Effies.

Finalists and winners of the show will feature in the Effie Effectiveness Index, which is co-produced with Warc.

Effies had not responded to Mumbrella’s questions about when the first Effie Asia Pacific awards would be held at the time of publishing.

Daryl Lee, global CEO of UM and member of the board of directors of Effie Worldwide said in a statement: “Asia-Pacific is a key subject on every global marketer’s mind, along with the ever-important subject of effectiveness.
