Always and ADK strike JV to take Japanese clients to China

WPP-owned Chinese shopper marketing agency Always Marketing Services has joined forces with Japan’s Asatsu-DK in a deal to give Japanese brands better access to China.

The two agencies have formed a joint venture company called A2.

Always will hold a majority stake in A2. ADK will take a minority share.

Barry Leung, president of Always, said in a statement: “With ADK’s in-depth knowledge of Japanese business, and the unmatched national coverage and expertise of Always, this combination will be a very powerful offering to Japanese clients.”

Always has central offices in five key cities in China, and branches in 120 other cities. ADK is Japan’s third largest ad agency, after Dentsu and Hakuhodo.
