Dentsu secures Olympics broadcast rights for 17 Asian countries

Olympics logoJapanese advertising giant Dentsu has secured the broadcast rights for three Olympics tournaments in 17 territories in Asia.

The deal covers television, radio and the internet for the Olympic Winter Games in Russia in 2014, the Rio summer Olympics in 2016 and the summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing in 2014.

The countries and territories covered include Afghanistan, Brunei, Cambodia, Taiwan, East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Last month Dentsu was awarded the rights for Winter and Summer Games in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The agency is now looking to secure broadcast partners in all 22 markets.
