Media agency PHD has promoted Aaron Wild to run its China operation after a two month search for a replacement for former CEO Mark Heap.

Heap joined MediaCom as APAC CEO in June, replacing Alex Crowther.

Wild, who joined PHD in 2010, moves up from MD to CEO.

Omnicom Media Group’s Greater China CEO Doug Pearce said: “We had a deep look at candidates inside and outside China and even after that, Aaron still came up as the best candidate.”

“He‟ll be charged with taking PHD to the next level of growth through new business and thought leadership, consistent with PHD‟s mantra of ‘finding a better way,'” Pearce said.

Wild will start at PHD on Monday, the same day as Susana Tsui starts work in her new role as PHD’s APAC CEO.

Tsui takes over from Cheuk Chiang, who has been doing two jobs as APAC head of PHD and regional boss of Omnicom Media Group since June following the move of former OMD APAC CEO Barry Cupples to a global role in London.

Chiang added: “Aaron has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills that are instrumental to PHD‟s
continuing success in China. With his drive, energy and passion, PHD China is sure to
scale new heights.”
