Digital agency Profero has merged its Japan operations with local communications agency Alien-Eye.

The merged company will be called Profero Japan and led by Alien-Eye CEO James Hollow. Alien-Eye’s co-owner and producer Ryuichi Kaneda will run account services, while Profero’s Toshiki Sato will continue in his role as head of strategic planning.

Profero’s global CEO and co-founder Wayne Arnold said in a statement: “Japan’s domestic economy is resurging, meaning Profero Asia is perfectly placed to partner with local brands looking to expand into international markets.”

“We already have a strong legacy of working with some of the regions most exciting and globally ambitious organisations and merging with Alien-Eye offers us a great opportunity to build on that,” he said.

Hollow added: “Few organisations have the ability to find, inspire and connect audiences by combining media, creative and technology under one roof in this way. This unique skill set makes us even better placed to fill what we see as a key performance gap in the market.”

News of Profero’s Japan acquisition comes a year after Arnold hinted that the network was looking to expand in Australia, the network’s APAC hub for creative, strategy and technology.

Profero bought a majority stake Hispanic marketing agency Vox Collective in July 2012.

The 15 year-old London-born agency became the world’s fast independent digital network after AKQA sold to WPP in June.
