Mark Newton joins Digitas LBi to lead regional media offering

Mark NewtonMark Newton has joined Digitas LBi as head of media for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

The digital media specialist joins after two and half years as APAC media director of Possible.

He will be based in Singapore and report to regional CEO Roy Capon.

Capon told Mumbrella: “We’ve had some media capability in Australia, Dubai and China, but no one running the practice as a mature market discipline for the region. When we first met Mark, we knew straight away he was the right cultural fit for the agency, and has the right background and experience to lead our media offering.”

Newton said: “What appealed to me about Digitas LBi is that it is an agency with media at the core of the offering, and has a very collaborative culture. Plus, the agency has come to Asia with a start-up mentality.”

Newton’s career has involved stints as MD of VML Qais in Singapore and global media director of Blue Interactive. He has also worked at Starcom, XM, Yahoo! and DoubleClick.

He joins six months after Digitas LBi opened an office in Singapore, and seven months after LBi merged with Publicis Groupe sibling Digitas. Publicis Groupe acquired LBi in September 2012.

LBi entered Asia four years ago with an office in India. The agency has since launched, through partnerships or acquisitions, in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Singapore.
