The boss of IPG Mediabrands in Hong Kong, Chris Skinner, is relocating to a role in Dubai after six years running the media group, which includes agency brands UM and Initiative.

Replacing him is Lilian Leong, who moves from ad agency Leo Burnett Hong Kong after a nine-year term. This is her first role at a media agency.

Margaret Chan, Leo Burnett HK’s management supervisor, has risen to GM to run the agency in Leong’s place.

Skinner takes on the role of regional MD of UM MENA, reporting to Prashant Kumar, president of IPG Mediabrands, World Markets Asia.

Kumar said in a press release: “Chris has built our Hong Kong office into one of the finest operations in the region, and leaves behind an excellent line-up of leaders. We wish him our absolute best in the new role. We in Asia community will surely miss him.”

Leong’s CV includes stints at ad agencies Bates, JWT and Ogilvy & Mather, working with clients including HSBC, IBM, San Miguel, Kodak, CSL and MTR.

Kumar added: “Lilian brings with her deep and diverse experience in building great teams, and hybrid businesses. She fits perfectly into our DNA yet can augur new perspectives. We are really excited about what the next level for our HK operations could be.”
