Two thirds of the most in-demand employers in China are in the media, tech and telco sectors, while 80 per cent of job seekers want to work for firms in those sectors in India, according to data from LinkedIn.

And local firms hold more appeal to job seekers in India than they do in China, the business social network has suggested.

Linked based its findings on how frequently company pages were visited and company groups followed, and by how often employee profiles were viewed.

Three local firms – including search engine Baidu – featured in the top 20 more sought after employer brands in China.

Six local firms feature in the top 20 for India.

Shenzhen-headquartered Huawei is the most in-demand local company in China in a list topped by Apple, Microsoft and HP.

Bangalore-based Wipro is the most sought after Indian employer brand, ranking second behind consultancy Accenture. Third is Infosys, which is also based in India’s IT hub, Bangalore.

Globally, a media brand leads the way. Google comes top of the list of 100 employer brands, followed by Apple, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft and social network Facebook.

The top ad agency to feature in the global ranking is WPP-owned Ogilvy & Mather, which ranks 26th.

Also featured are ad agencies Leo Burnett (43), JWT (46), Razorfish (59), Saatchi & Saatchi (64), Digitas (87) and BBDO (98).
