Starbucks asks Chinese customers to put down their phones and have a real conversation

Starbucks campaign ChinaCoffee chain Starbucks has launched a campaign to encourage people in China to put down their phones and have a real conversation over a cup of coffee.

The ‘Let’s meet up, face to face, heart to heart!’ campaign, devised by ad agency BBDO, kicked off on Tencent and Sina Weibo where people were invited to pledge their support for the idea.

Fans could vote on the campaign site, comment on friends’ votes and share their involvement in social media.

People who visited Starbucks stores were also encouraged to sign their names on the posters to show their support. Those who did were given a free size upgrade so that they had more time to spend in stores to talk to their friends.
