Samsung launches Galaxy S4 zoom in Malaysia

Samsung has launched a campaign to introduce the Galaxy S4 zoom to Malaysia.

For the centrepiece of the campaign, the electronics giant has recruited four celebrities – visual artist Nini Ramlan, fashion expert Alia Bastamam, celebrity chef Nik Michael Imran and Hip Hop artist Joe Flizzow – and given them a Galaxy S4 zoom with which to shoot short stories about what it is to be Malaysian.

Ng Long Shyang, VP of IT and mobile communications, Samsung Malaysia Electronics, said: “There is no one definition to being Malaysian. We are unique because of our diversity and that, ultimately, makes up our strength as a nation. At Samsung, we are very excited to create countless moments of discovery through the stories brought to life with the GALAXY S4 zoom.”

As well as the celebrity stories, Samsung is asking the public to share moments that define Malaysianness for them in the form of pictures and videos, which will be used to make a music video for the Joe Flizzow single, HAVOC.

“The product could integrate the best of both worlds; industry-leading smartphones’ functionality and advanced photographic capabilities. This is important to the target audience, who needed to have the ability to Talk, Shoot and Share their experiences instantly. The challenge began when consumers couldn’t define the product – was it a phone or camera – and subsequently created a perception and barrier from learning more about the product’s offerings,” said Nick Drew, MD of Starcom Malaysia, the agency behind the campaign.
