Colgate wishes Vietnam a smiley Tet

Y&R has created a new campaign for dental hygiene brand Colgate to encourage healthy smiles for the Lunar New Year festival of Tet.

“Great smiles bring great fortune for the New Year”, the advertiser intones in the commercial.

The translation for the ad goes as follows:

Son: “Mommy says if I smile a lot during Tet, I’ll be loved by other people and get more Lixi (lucky money). Ah, Tomorrow is Tet, so I will smile much more to get more Lixi.”

Father: I’ve been so busy all year long, I have not been able to spend time with my wife and daughter. The New Year is coming, so I will spend more time with them to make them smile more often”

Daughter: Next Year I will be studying away from home. My Mom will miss my smiles. Next year, I’ll definitely visit home very often so she can still see my smiles.”

Closing frame: “Great smiles bring great fortune for the New Year.”

Matthew Collier CEO Y&R Vietnam, and the newly appointed head of Y&R’s Indochina operation, said, “Tet is a time in Vietnam where the past year is left behind and the new year welcomed. Colgate recognises the importance of this time and our communication reflects this period of family togetherness and celebration.”
