The creative shake-up at Japanese agency giant Dentsu has continued this year with the signing of two executive creative directors in the Philippines.

Creative pair Gary Amante and Rey Tiempo join Dentsu Philippines from BBDO Guerrero – just two months after a new ECD, Joey Ong, was announced for Philippine affiliate Dentsu Aspac along with new creative directors in Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore.

Dentsu has hired six creative directors in two months, but would not confirm with Mumbrella whether it has let key creative staff go to make way.

Tiempo and Amante, who will join the agency next month, worked on brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Pepsico, Bayer, FedEx, Pizza Hut, Mitsubishi Motors, P&G and Ayala Land at BBDO Guerrero.

BBDO Guerrero CEO Tony Harris said of their departure: “Gary and Rey have been part of an enormously successful team here at BBDO and we are sure they will rise to the challenge of replicating that in their new roles. We wish them the very best of luck at Dentsu”.

They will report to regional creative chief Ted Lim, who was brought in to rejuvenate the agency’s creative product by regional boss Dick van Motman in April last year.

Van Motman, who is just over a year into the top job, and whose job title recently changed to CEO, Dentsu Aegis Network/Southeast Asia following Dentsu’s acquisition of Aegis Media, said: “I brought Ted Lim and Ujjwal Sarao on board last year in newly created positions of Chief Creative Officer and Head of Talent for the region, as part of our focus to build on human capital, talent and acquisition. As we continue to scale our business, attracting top talents like Gary and Rey enables us to continue to grow the breadth and quality of our work beyond what any agency can do.”
