DraftFCB appoints Ogilvy’s Edward Bell to run Greater China

Ad agency DraftFCB has installed a new leader of its Greater China operation.

The agency, which closed its Hong Kong agency earlier this month, has brought in Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai’s Chinese-speaking strategy and planning head Edward Bell as CEO.

“Greater China is a major market for Draftfcb and one where clients are asking for strong strategy. Edward’s astute insights, enviable track record delivering successful solutions and the way he has immersed himself into the culture and language makes him the ideal executive for the role,” said Carter Murray, Draftfcb’s global CEO.

Bell has also worked client side. He was director of marketing communications for Adidas Greater China, and a market strategy at National Australia Bank.

In his career, he’s worked at Ogilvy as head of planning of the Hong Kong office and then Beijing.

Bell said: “I’ve completely absorbed myself in the China market for the large majority of my career. I find the brands, clients and cultures fascinating and invigorating. I’m looking forward to getting started with Draftfcband helping the agency’s clients and business prosper in Greater China.”
