Former Fox Sports digital honcho James Miner launches tech start-up MinerLabs

James Miner, the former SVP of digital media at Fox International Channels, has started his own company based out of Singapore.

Targeted at tech and media companies, MinerLabs Group designs and builds broadband networks, over-the-top video services, social media and mobile apps.

Miner said: “There is rapidly emerging market for streaming media services across Asia. With the number of smart phones doubling across Asia in 2013, and the rapid transition from PC to tablet computing, there is an underserviced audience for entertainment and sports on the go. That’s where Minerlabs helps our clients connect with always on audiences.”

Prior to his role as senior vice president of Fox International Channels, Miner was SVP of digital at ESPN Star Sports where he spent almost four years in the role.

Before that, he was regional director, head of creative services and social media at WPP media agency GroupM, and regional director at BLUE Interactive, now Possible Worldwide.

In his earlier career, he worked at Y&R, where he was regional director of the ad agency’s internet division.

Miner’s new firm recently signed up as a member of IAB Singapore, led by new executive director Miranda Dimopoulos.
