Omnicom Media Group has hired Sunee Paripunna from WPP rival MEC to run its Thai operations.

Paripunna, who starts in her new role in March, will oversee OMG media agencies PHD and OMD in the kingdom and will report to regional Southeast Asia CEO Jasmin Sohrabji.

She replaces Clint Easthorpe, who left the company late last year after four years in the job.

Paripunna leaves her post as MD of MEC Thailand, where she worked for the last six years.

Sohrabji said in a statement: “A strong media practitioner who radiates such passion and energy, it’s no surprise that Sunee has a track record of delivering innovative work and impressive results. Her leadership will further cement Omnicom Media Group’s positioning as a future facing network and strengthen our overall value-proposition in a key South East Asian market like Thailand.”

Cheuk Chiang, OMG’s APAC boss, added: “It is an important time of change for the Thai media landscape. In this dynamic environment we need a change agent and someone of Sunee’s caliber to help us unleash all the opportunities. Sunee has an amazing track record of driving growth and I am confident that she will help build on the fantastic momentum delivered by the group over the last few years.”

Before MEC, Paripunna was the executive director for Starcom Thailand, where she ran the P&G account.
