Digital Performance Group plots Asia expansion with acquisition of Asia Pacific Digital

A deal has been finalised between two digital marketing companies that the Australia-based acquisitor says will pave the way for expansion in Asia Pacific.

Digital Performance Group has entered a binding share sale agreement with the owner of Asia Pacific Digital, Co-investor Capital Partners, subject to shareholder approval.

The deal will see Asia Pacific Digital companies Next Digital, one of the region’s largest online ad agencies, ad tech firm Jericho and e-commerce brand Asia Pacific Digital Commerce brought under the same ownership as Digital Performance Group’s loyalty marketing brand Empowered and online ad firm dgm.

The merged entity will, according to the companies, create one of the region’s biggest digital commerce and marketing groups, with 300 staff in nine offices in seven countries.

The merger will enable DPG to “capitalise on Asia Pacific Digital’s established position in Asia, which aligns with DPG’s intention to build a leading presence in digital marketing and e-commerce markets in Asia,” the company told the Australia stock exchange.

Approval of the merger will be sought at a company EGM on 17 March.
