Dumb Ways to Die animator releases darkly comic short film for Valentine’s Day

The animator of the Dumb Ways to Die hit viral, Julian Frost, has directed a Valentine’s Day-themed animated short film called Love Assassin.

The darkly humourous two and a half minute piece, featuring the popular emoticon-like character Tuzki and a dismembered heart with a life of its own, was produced by TurnOut Ventures, in which Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific has a stake.

The film has been released on YouTube and will run on adult skewed channels such as Adult Swim, which Turner launched in Australia last year and is to roll out in Asia in the coming months.

The film was animated by STUDIO4°C, the production house behind The Animatrix, a follow-up to the Wachowski Brothers’ The Matrix and its sequels.

“We’re thrilled to present the first-ever animated short film starring Tuzki,” said Yat Siu, board director of TurnOut Ventures. “Today the uniquely bittersweet white bunny loved by millions officially expands into a new medium, and TurnOut Ventures renews our commitment to producing compelling original content.”
