Temasek hires News Corp social media manager Alvin Lim to lead digital engagement

Alvin LimInvestment giant Temasek Holdings has hired Alvin Lim, the former regional social media manager at News Corp, to run its digital engagement strategy and owned media assets.

His job title is associate director/digital editor, corporate affairs.

The Singaporean, who launched an alternative news site Hashtag Asia three months ago and has run lifestyle blog Alvinology.com since 2007, joins the company after a six-month stint at News Corp as social media, digital marketing and analytics lead for Southeast Asia and Japan.

In his earlier career, he founded creative boutique agency The Simple Folks, which he ran for three years until the company merged with Uberture. He then joined OgilvyOne as a graphic designer for a brief stint before returning to Uberture.

He has also worked for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports as portal manager of Youth.sg, and for Singapore Press Holdings in a variety of roles – as marketing manager for STJobs.sg and social media strategist for omy.sg.

Stephen Forshaw, managing director of corporate affairs at Temasek Holdings, said: “We’re delighted to have Alvin on board.”
