Dentsu installs 20-year veteran Masako Okamura as ECD in Vietnam

Picture 13Ad agency Dentsu has made yet another senior creative appointment in Southeast Asia, moving company veteran Masako Okamura from Tokyo to Saigon to lead the Vietnamese office’s creative department as ECD.

A Dentsu loyalist of 20 years and the Japanese ad firm’s first female creative director, Okamura is the seventh key appointment since Ted Lim took the role as regional chief creative officer in 2013.

She will work on clients such as Yamaha and Lexus.

Dick Van Motman, who is chairman and CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network/Southeast Asia, said: “In order to deliver on Dentsu’s proposition ‘moving business by moving people’, we need to have a relentless focus on creativity in every aspect. With her impressive track record, we feel very comfortable that Masako will deliver exactly that for Dentsu Vietnam. Her appointment is yet another step in our regional wide focus to keep raising the talent bar continuously. Ted Lim has been amassing a great team and I feel they’re ready to play”.

Dentsu announced the hire of four new creative directors in November last year, and added two ECDs in the Philippines in January.
