Ad spend growth forecast, 2013-2014

The world’s advertising economy will grow by 5.5 per cent in 2014, reaching US$537 billion, driven by stronger growth in Asia, Zenith Optimedia has predicted. This is the third time this year the media agency has revised its predictions upwards.

‘Fast-track’ Asia, which includes high-growth countries such as Indonesia, China and India, is expected to grow by 11.3 per cent this year, while ‘advanced Asia’, which includes countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Korea, will grow by 4.9 per cent, predicts Zenith.

Japan, however, is predicted to grow by two per cent in 2014 – the same rate of growth as 2013.

Over the next few years, Zenith expects fast-track Asia to grow even faster than Latin America, with 12.4 per cent growth expected by 2013 and 2016.
