Press has once more proved to be Asia’s strong point at the Cannes Lions, with the region picking up more than 50 lions – more than double its haul last year.

The only category that has proved more fruitful for Asia so far has been the outdoor category in which Asia won 69 lions.

Asian agencies from Vietnam, India, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines won a total of 55 print lions.

Golds went to Lowe Vietnam for OMO, Grey Mumbai for Duracell, Lowe Shanghai for Shanghai General Motors and Y&R Beijing for Penguin.

BBDO Singapore picked up silvers for its work for Guinness, as did Grey China for NBTY Trading and JWT India for Godrej.

Bronzes were claimed by TBWA\Kuala Lumpur for Newell Rubbermaid, Ogilvy Bangkok for the Accident Prevention Network, Y&R Beijing for Penguin and Lowe Manila for SM Prime Holdings.

Japan, which has been Asia’s biggest award winner by far this year, submitted 31 entries but did not convert one into metal.
